Hi. Greetings from Kampala where the weather is bright and sunny...and hot. Like super hot. Good thing we have church in the morning, because it would be mighty hot in that building. We meet on the 5th floor of this building so it gets stuffy up there, especially when the power goes off like this morning.
Today Pastor Brian preached from 1 Timothy 4:6-16, all about godliness. The first point was How to get Godliness. 1)by remembering the foundational doctrines that we have been taught. 2) By exercising in godliness. Just like our bodies don't grow and get stronger without us exercising, so our spiritual lives don't grow without exercise either. 3) By focusing on the future (heaven). Just like Moses, who forsook the Egypt and all it's money and influence because he counted the things of God higher than the things of this earth.
The second point was about how to give (show) godliness to others. The power went off right about here so this part was quite brief. 1) Be an example of godliness. Practice what you preach (verse 12). 2) Be in the Word. We need to be fed on a good spiritual diet of God's word every day (verse 13). 3) Use our gifts and talents that God has given us, to His glory and the edification of the church (verse 14). 4) Be fully commited to a godly lifestyle (verse 15). 5) Take care of yourself and examine your lifestyle to see whether or not you are living according to God's word (verse 16).
Today we had a new worship leader. His name is Kenny and he usually did our voice training at Saturday rehearsal. The first service was a disaster because we weren't used to his style of leading so we missed almost all our cues for when to come in and when to break into harmony or stay in unison. Thankfully the second service went a lot better. Well, I hope you have a great Sunday and you can worship God in spirit and in truth.
