Wednesday Evening Church
Tonight I went to the mid week service held at Calvary Chapel. It was really nice, the singing is always so uplifting. The message was also really good. Pastor Craig spoke about 1 Samuel 27 where David goes to the Philistines because he thinks Saul is going to kill him. The message was what not to do when discouraged or depressed. David convinced himself that if he stayed in Judah Saul would kill him. He didn't pray about it or seek God's will. Instead he tried to take care of his own problems by fleeing to the enemy of Israel. After a brief period of relief, David ended up compounding his problems by having to lie to the king about how he was getting his food (by attacking Israel was David's answer) and then later having to fight his own countrymen. When discouraged, always look to God. He will never leave us or forsake us.
